The FAB (Francis Agyeman Bawuah) Foundation and Impact Next Gen (ING) Donation #17 @ St Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Basic School at Sekyedumase, Ashanti Region, Written by Mr Kobina Amoako-Atta Hudson (Sailon)
Dr. Theophilus Boafo-Yirenkyi and myself, Amoako-Atta Hudson of ING touched down at the newly renovated Prempeh International Airport at 8.45 am and met Jerry Quashie, Sybil Bawuah-Quashie and her brother Peter Bawuah, whose father is from Sekyedumase. The three of them had already arrived an hour earlier on the flight before ours. Mr Ebenezer our F1 driver picked us up for the 2-hour trip north through Agona, the Mampong mountains to Sekyedumase. The entire journey was pothole dodging and avoiding.
Sekyedumase is a farming community in the Northern Ashanti Region. They are known for growing cassava, corn, groundnut, plantain, soybean, and yams. The school comprises a kindergarten, 755 primary, and 186 JSS students.
Jerry, Sybil, and Peter Bawuah are representatives of the FAB foundation and have contributed in the past to desk donations for ING. FAB also collaborated with the ING fundraising charity event in London, in 2023. FAB restored the ICT lab and equipped the lab with 20 desktop computers, 20 workstations, 1 laptop, and 1 projector. They also furnished the kindergarten classroom with 12 hexagonal Kindergarten tables and 72 chairs for the kindergarten learners using ING's furniture builder to make the furniture.
After the donation, the FAB foundation and ING were graciously thanked by Rev. Fr. Andrew Agyei Sarpong, the staff, learners, entrepreneurs, and the community of Sekyedumase R/C Basic School.
The whole donation lasted about 2 hours. We headed back to Kumasi dodging the potholes and had lunch at Waakyi Abrantie. Our flights back to Accra were delayed by several hours due to heavy rainfall fall in Accra. We finally landed safely in Accra at 10.30 pm.
A massive thanks to FAB Foundation.
